Brewing Instructions:
- For Water: use 1 tsp of chai to 6 oz. boiling water. Brew for 4-6 minutes. Adjust to taste.
- For Milk/Vanilla Soy: use 1 tbs to 8 oz of milk heated to 160-180 degrees. Heat your milk in a saucepan, stirring constantly. 160-180 degrees is just before large bubbles start to break the surface. Steep for 4-6 minutes. Adjust to taste.
- To make iced chai, brew as stated above and chill. Or, brew double strength in water or milk/soy to keep as a base and add more liquid and ice when ready to drink.
Brewing In Bulk:
- Method 1: Heat 1 gallon of Vanilla Soy on stovetop until just before bubbles start to form (180 degrees). Place 16 Tablespoons of Chai in a large tea ball. Remove Soy from heat, and place tea ball in soy. Brew for 4-6 minutes, remove Chai and serve, or use an airpot to keep it warm all day.
- Method 2: Heat 8 cups water with 8 cups Vanilla Soy until just before bubbles start to form (180 degrees). Place 16 Tablespoons of Chai in a large tea ball. Remove Soy from heat, and place tea ball in soy. Brew for 4-6 minutes, remove Chai and serve, or use an airpot to keep it warm all day. This method produces a less creamy, spicier version.
- Note: For those using Milk or regular Soy, remember that our loose leaf is not sweetened. Many prefer a shot of simple syrup or honey added to a milk based chai.
Please note the cup amount is based on brewing chai in water.
